The following is a brief list of some commonly used terms and their definitions: 1. Ordinance—The most formal and binding type of council legislation. 2. Resolution — Formal declaration of a specific action pertaining to a specific set of circumstances. 3. Rezoning — Change in the zoning classification of a parcel of land requiring public hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council. Planning Commission 4.
