_The Fridley Senior Center Honors the Constitution BiCentennial
i
The Family , the Courts and the Constitution is the focus of a six-week
discussion series which begins Tuesday, June 23 - 9 :00am at the Fridley
Senior Center, 6085 7th Street NE, The weekly sessions are designed to
bring people together to explore the role and the meaning of the
U.S. Constitution in their lives .
The discussion program attempts to bring to life the overeaching
Principles and the important institutions that govern us . By focusing
on the family, the materials help to demystify the law and show how our
courts and judges have tried to apply constitutional provisions to family
Problems and issues. A collection of readings, which form an intellectual
basis for the discussions, covers such timely topics as the government's
role in marriage, American education and the family, who decides whether
a family member should live or die, and grandparents' rights. Discussion
leader will be a practicing attorney.
This program is one component of the National Council on the Aging's
Senior Center Humanities Program. Funded by the National Endowment
for the Humanities, the Senior Center Humanities Program is designed to
, enrich the lives of older adults through involvement in literature,
history, philosophyj folklore, jurrisprudence, and other fields of
hui-iiane learning.
The Fridley Senior Center welcomes participants to the discussions .
Register by calling Connie Thompson at 571-1304.

FELINES OF FRIDLEY
In order for anything to grow it takes a few big developments and a whole!
lot of little things. Fridley .has been growing continually for the last
thirty years. One of the new things to help that growth is the Senior
Center, One of the things in the Senior- Center- that Plays. a part in the
Center's drive for recognition is the recently organized Kitchen Band.
Frdiley can be rightfully .proud of the energetic and enthusiastic people
who comprise the "Fridley AlleyCats",. _ With only a few months of being
, together the band has already made several appearances before audiences,
a_ few at their homebase and mores in surrounding communities. They have
interesting .and varied arrangements of -songs and music from past
generations. It's hard to believe that these past middle-agers are not
really teenagers - the way they fly, flit and flirt around the stage.
Anyone who has'. the pleasure of seeing the AlleyCats will agree that the
name is appropriate - - _ "Theyf-re the Cat's meow! "
