Lois 571-6085 r 1995 CHRISTMAS WREATH SALE PHONE SALES BEGIN SEPTEMBER 11th ORDER DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 16th. As hard as it might seem, the Christmas Wreath season is just around the comer. We are looking for a large crew of volunteers to help with the phone sales, neighborhood sales, and delivery. This is a major fundraiser for the Center. Last year over 900 wreaths were sold raising more than $2,000. With increased cutbacks in federal, state and local funding, fundraisers such as the concessions and wreath sale increase in importance. Funding will be used to pay for the newsletter and telephone, subsidy for programs, special events and hopefully the purchase of a large program item much like the card tables last year. We really need your help to make this a success. Contact the Senior Center to let us know what you can do. lii k+33 ii u i 3 3 iia' i 3 I. (F 1 •• ",I it `:` 1 :. Especially now, when federal and state monies continue to get tighter, we need to appreciate our local funding sources. ISD#14 has generously offered the Fridley Senior Program a roof over its head and paid utilities, xeroxing priviledges, some office supplies, and support and training (like CPR) for staff. The City provides the Senior Program with a coordinator, the transportation program, some office supplies including our computer, support and training, printing of the newsletter and brochure. The Handiworks and Senior Companion Program are funded through federal grants and donations. The rest of our senior program including the telephone,co—ftee and refreshments, all postage, program subsidizes, special events, instructor fees, program materials and supplies, as well as special equipment (tables, TV, VCR...) need to be raised through donations, activity fees, and fundraising by seniors. This is why the fundraising efforts are so important. It should also be noted that while many seniors are involved with the purchase of items that support fundraisers only a very few do all the work. Its possible that many of you want to help but think that we already have enough people to help. We only have about 25 that help with all our fundraising efforts. WE NEED YOUI This fall we will be selling wreaths. For this event we need a sales chairperson, a delivery chairperson, people to help with publicity, volunteers for neighborhood sales and/or delivery, phone sales volunteers, and much more. We will also be continuing our committment to Bob's Produce through October. Volunteers have enjoyed the social contact with this project as well as promoting a positive senior image in our community. PLEASE, COME JOIN USI It's time for fall clean-up. There are a number of things that can be done this time of year, before the snow comes. We have workers available for 6mYqra&14Wi&ff raking, yard clean-up, small exterior jobs, etc. , Please call early so that we will know how many Anoka County people we will need. If you already have a person doing your lawn, please ask them if they Outstanding Seniors would help you out with the fall clean-up.
