FRIENDLY FRIDLEY FOLKS SUMMER SCHEDULE
THURSDAY, JULY 19:
Trip to Spectacle Lake for Summer Potluck at Nelson's cabin
TUESDAY, AUGUST 16:
Picnic at Locke Park
SENIOR BOWLING
Attendance at senior bowlers at Maple Lanes hasn't diminished during the off season.
There are still from 30 to 45 bowlers each Monday and Friday. New ones are coming in each
month, but there's still lots of room.
For the month of May, Win Hunt won the five dollar certificate from Bob's Produce and
Les Kruger won the Town Crier five dollar certificate.
The special bowling is still in on Mondays when colored pins come up in designated
spots and if the bowler then gets a strike, he gets some of his money back.
We have bowlers from about four other areas. This provides a good chance to get
acquainted with some of our good neighbors. No reservations are needed - just come on in.
BEFRIENDER TRAINING CLASSES
By popular demand, the Befriender Training classes have been postponed until fall. The
eleven week course, which trains senior in communication and listening skills, has been
rescheduled to begin August 20. The classes will be held every Monday from 1:30 p.m. to
4:00 p.m. through November 5, accounting for the September 3rd Labor Day Holiday. Class
locations are St. Williams Catholic Church and Mercy Medical Center.
This postponement has created an opportunity to extend the application/recruiting
period through July 27 and all those interested in becoming Bef rienders are encouraged to
apply. Applications can be obtained from Ruth Smith, St. Williams Church or Jo Ellen
Christiansen, Anoka County Community Action Program, 572-0060, extension 15. Contact either
of these people if you have questions or if you would like to arrange for someone to speak
to a group about the Befriender program.
