TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR FIRST SENIOR OPTIONS SPO
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. , September 18, 1985 -- Tickets are now
available for Senior Options, the first major expo designed to
acquaint seniors, pre- retirees, their families and friends with the
wide variety of senior lifestyle opportunities.
Senior Options, which will be held October 21 and 22 at the
Minneapolis Auditorium and Convention Center, will feature more than
200 exhibits, 25 seminars and hourly entertainment. The Expo will
explore areas of prime interest to seniors including: housing, health
care, finance, nutrition, fitness, employment, travel and leisure.
Three renowned speakers will appear at the Expo: "Dear Abby, "
Abigail VanBuren; Albert Myers, author of Success Over Sixty and Pat
Moore, 32, who protrayed herself as a senior for two years to gather
firsthand experience in how to better design consumer products for
seniors.
The speakers will all appear on the main entertainment stage
adjacent to the exhibitor booths. Throughout the Expo the stage will
feature entertairument by professionals and senior groups. The Expo
will close each night with a dance and concert from 8-11 p.m. ,
presented by the Don Cavitt Orchestra and the Jules Herman Band.
Senior Options tickets are $4, or $3 in advance and are good f or
both days of the Expo. Tickets to the "Dear Abby" luncheon, October
21, and Expo are $9. Bus transportation, from convenient locations
throughout the Twin Cities, is also available. The bus locations are
indicated on the reverse side of the Senior Options ticket.
Tickets can be purchased at any Norwest Bank locations or from the
Metropolitan Senior Federation office, 1885 University Avenue in St.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE
Last year the Minnesota Legislature passed a law stating that
Insurance companies must provide a discount on premiums to persons 65
and older, who have completed an approved Safe Driving Course. So
far, two courses have been approved for certification. They are "55
Alive" AARP Program and "Defensive Driving" - National Safety Council.
The "Defensive Driving Course" is being offered at Blaine City Hall on
October 29th and 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. to
3:00 p.m. This is an 8 hour course, four hours each day. Each
participant must complete the 8 hours of instruction to receive
certification and be eligible for an insurance discount. There is a
fee of $7.50. Class is limited to 75.
To register for the Defensive Driver 's Course, please complete the
form below and mail with your remittance to: Mary Ann Young, Blaine
Senior Center by October 24th. Dinner is available thru Congregate
