FRIENDLY FRIDLEY FOLKS
DECEMBER 2nd MEETING
Sixty one members were in attendance, of which one was new member Mary Dittmer, long-time
resident of Fridley, who was formally introduced.
Morrie Bangsrud volunteered as alternate, with Earl and Helen Deeg as regulars, to serve
on the Wells Clinic Information Committee.
New officers being installed in January are: Tony Lorbeski as President, Alex Berberich
as Vice-President, Faye Kopp as Treasurer. Esther Campbell will return as Secretary. Out
going officers are Brother Mark LaMont as Vice-President, Florence Wojciak as Treasurer.
Alex Berberich after two terms as President will serve as Advisory Vice-President.
An announcement was made concerning Arvid Pearson's absence: He had a broken ankle which
isn't surprising with all the kicking (friendly) he does, Cards will be appreciated by Edna.
Following a club discussion, agreement was reached that the evening meeting would be
considered as the business meeting and the afternoon session assigned to entertainment,
visiting and general discussion.
Connie McMillion, Club Coordinator, announced that the list for the Lion's Club Christmas
Dinner at Sandees was complete at three hundred and forty guests. Without a doubt, this
dinner is a large and noble undertaking that merits thanks beyond our scope,
A program committee of volunteer members was requested by Tony Lorbeski with the hope that
the field of entertainment could be enlarged. Contacting possible entertainment groups
has been the responsibility of one person, Connie, who has limited time to devote to this
endeavor-, though having done an excellent job in the past.
Final announcement of the evening concerned the availability of assistance to seniors who
may need help with their incomce tax reports. Starting on February 22, seniors can find
this help at the City Hall from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon each day. This service is with-
out charge.
The entertainment for the evening was by a group of high school boys and girls from
Totino-Grace High School. Some of their songs were from American stage musicals. After
their half hour program, the singers shared coffee and cookies with members of the club.
