ORDINANCE NO. 1362
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 205 OF THE FRIDLEY ZONING CODE
PERTAINING TO EXTERIOR STORAGE
The City Council of the City of Fridley hereby finds, after review, examination and
recommendation of staff, that the Fridley City Code be hereby amended as follows:
Section 1: That Section 205.07.6.C of the R-1 Section of the Fridley City Code be hereby
amended as follows:
C. Exterior Storage.
(1)Nothing shall be stored in the required front yard, with the exception of boats, non-
motorized camping trailers, and utility trailers provided they are located on an
approved hard surface and no portion of said trailer extends closer than 15’ to the back
of the curb. In no case shall said trailer encroach on the public right of way. (Ord

(1)All exterior storage of materials, equipment and vehicles in the R-1 Zoning District is
prohibited except as permitted as follows:
(a)Split and neatly stacked firewood in the side or rear yard.
(b)Private outdoor recreational equipment currently being used or intended for use
within the premises.
(c)Landscaping materials and machinery currently being used or intended for use on a
current project within the premises.
(d)Boats, non-motorized camping trailers, and empty utility trailers in the side or rear
yard. Boats, non-motorized camping trailers, and empty utility trailers stored in the
front side or rear yard are not required to be located on a hard surface drive and must
be setback at least 15 feet from the back of the street curb. (Ord 1164)
(2)All materials shall be kept in a building or shall be fully screened, so as not to be
visible from any public right of way for stacked firewood in the side or rear yard.
Boats, non-motorized camping trailers, and utility trailers stored in side or rear yard
are not required to be located on a hard surface drive. (Ord 1164)
(3) The City shall require a Special Use Permit for any exterior storage of materials,
except for C (1) and (2) above. (Ord 1164)

Section 2: That Section 205.08.6.C of the R-2 Section of the Fridley City Code be hereby
amended as follows:
C. Exterior Storage.
(1)Nothing shall be stored in the required front yard.

prohibited except as permitted as follows:
(a)Split and neatly stacked firewood in the side or rear yard.
(b)Private outdoor recreational equipment currently being used or intended for use
within the premises.
(c)Landscaping materials and machinery currently being used or intended for use on a
current project within the premises.
(d)Boats, non-motorized camping trailers, and empty utility trailers in the side or rear

prohibited except as permitted as follows:

current project within the premises.
(d)Boats, non-motorized camping trailers, and empty utility trailers in the side or rear
