RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF TOWARD ZERO DEATHS (TZD)
ENFORCEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley recognizes the importance of the safe and efficient movement of
traffic in and through the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley Public Safety Department works to improve the safe and efficient
movement of traffic through education and enforcement; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of adverse impact on lives and property resulting from impaired or
negligent driving and the non-use of seat belts, the State of Minnesota, Minnesota Department of
Public Safety, and the Office of Traffic Safety, have developed the Toward Zero Deaths (TZD)
Enforcement Program to fund traffic safety education and enforcement; and
WHEREAS the County of Anoka has proposed participation in the education and enforcement of the
TZD Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley, at the request of Anoka County, shall serve as the fiscal agent and
grant administrator for the TZD Program for a three-year period ending in 2021.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that City Council of the City of Fridley hereby authorizes
the Fridley Public Safety Director to execute and administer a Toward Zero Deaths grant agreement
with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for traffic safety
enforcement projects effective October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020.
