RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 44
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING CORONAVIRUS AID, RELEIF AND ECONOMIC
SECURITY ACT FUNDS FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION ACTIVITIES
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2020, the Federal Government enacted the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and
Economic Security (CARES) Act in response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the CARES Act included approximately $339.8 billion to support COVID-19 pandemic
response by state and local governments; and
WHEREAS, on June 25, 2020, the State of Minnesota (State) distributed of $841 million in CARES
Act funding to local governments within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, on August 18, 2020, Anoka County entered into a Grant Agreement with the State to
allocate CARES Act funds to municipalities within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley may receive up to approximately $14,192.74 in CARES Act funding
to support election related, COVID–19 pandemic response efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby
acknowledges that the sum of $14,192.74 will be provided by Anoka County to the municipality under
the CARES Act grant to which Anoka County is the Grantee, and the municipality acknowledges that it
is subject to the provisions of paragraphs 1 through 5, 7 through 11 and 13 through 15 of the 2020
CARES Act Grant Agreement as if it were the Grantee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the City Manager, or his designee,
to execute and submit any documents, consistent with the requirements of the CARES Act Grant
Application and Anoka County, in order to obtain reimbursement.
