Fire Alarm Plan Review Comments

Contractor shall be familiar with this review document and contents prior to initiation of work. The conditions contained
herein shall be considered as requirements for the proposed project. A written response or additional documents may be necessary and are due prior to initiation of the Final Inspection
and approval for issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy or Fire Department permit completion. You may contact the Office of the Fire Marshal at (763) 572-3621 for additional information.

General Comments:
The proposed fire alarm system shall be installed in accordance with the 2007 Minnesota State Fire Code
Section 907 and 2010 NFPA Standard 72, National Fire Alarm Code. A City of Fridley Inspections Department Electrical Permit may also be required for the proposed work.
If the fire
alarm control panel and/or fire service annunciator requires a code for access to silence and reset functions, the contractor shall install the City Fire Department code for those panel
functions which is available from the Fire Marshal. If a key is required for access to silence and reset functions, the contractor shall be responsible for providing a key for the Fire
Department key box. (2007 MSFC Section 506)
When the silence function is activated at the fire alarm control panel or annunciator panel, audible notification function shall be silenced.
The visual notification function (strobes) shall continue to operate until the system reset function is activated. (2007 MSFC 907.9.1)
Provide keys for the FACP, pull stations,
duct detection device control units and entry door keys. (2007 MSFC 506.1)
Monitoring agency shall report fire alarm incidents to the Fridley Fire Department’s dispatch center, Anoka
County Central Communications, at (763) 427-1212.
All devices shall be fully compatible with existing system components. Systems and their components shall also be listed and approved
for the proposed purpose in the existing system. (2007 MSFC 907.1.2)
Please forward information concerning device manufacturers, model numbers and listing information for these devices. Contractor may submit device cut sheets. (2007 MSFC 907.1.1.9)
Testing
of the System:
Final inspection and testing of the installed system and monitoring signal generation shall be conducted in accordance with provisions of 2007 MSFC 907.17, 907.18 and
2002 NFPA Standard 72 and witnessed by the Fire Marshal. Contractor shall contact this office to arrange the witnessed testing and inspection.
Contractor shall arrange for Central
station monitoring agency to provide a list of signals which it receives during witnessed testing and inspection. A copy of this report shall be forwarded to this office.
When permitted
work, inspection and testing is completed, contractor shall provide the Fire Marshal’s office with a Certificate of Completion required by 2007 MSFC 907.18 and 2002 NFPA Standard 72
verifying that the system has been installed in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
