I personally have never step inside the space that The Salvation Army is proposing to purchase. I am not aware of any current issues. However, that building has not been inspected in many years. We have not seen any plans showing how the space will be used in the future other than the simplified drawing presented at the DRC meeting. If I do an inspection of the property I need to have approval from the current tenant and the current owner / management company of the building. I am curious, if I and/or the Building Official found something grossly wrong with the building that causes The Salvation Army to back out of the purchase agreement, have we open the City up to potential liability. Any noted violations of code will need to be corrected in a reasonable time frame, typically less than 30 days. Thoughts?? I have copied this response to all of the original receivers of your e-mail. Looking for feedback. John Crelly Asst. In order to do that, they need sign off's from the Building Official, Fire Marshall, and the person who handles licensing. Please see below e-mail and attached examples. Feel free to contact Ross if you have any questions. Thanks for your help! We were able to get past that step in The Salvation Army's purchase process, and are now at a point (see attached scanned checklist numbers 3.5 and 3.6) where they are required to have a city code inspection to verify that premises are presently in approved move-in condition and also obtain a statement as to whether or not a business license is required by the City. I have attached the forms that we were able to receive from the City of St. Cloud in the past for these steps in the process as an example of what we would be looking for. Can you please let me know at your convenience what we would need to do in order to obtain these items from the City of Fridley? Thank you so much for all of your help on this.
