I would like you to also submit a letter to me or the address file that explains the access issues you've had to the property in the past. Please get that to me ASAP! Thanks Ralph! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Messer, Ralph Sent: Friday, January 06, 2006 5:34 PM To: Stromberg, Stacy Subject: Rice Creek Townhouse Parking On Wednesday, January 4, 2006, I conducted a survey of fire lane parking restrictions at the Rice Creek Townhome complex. The survey was to verify established fire lane areas prohibiting tenant parking ordered by then Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal Robert Aldrich. It appears that some of the parking prohibitions ordered by Chief Aldrich, forwarded to the Rice Creek Townhouse Development Corporation on April 26, 1978, are still in place. There are, however, are a number prohibited parking areas included in his order that are not marked. Additionally, other signs have been added that were not a part of Chief Aldrich’s order. Although I can find no other orders requiring placement of those signs, the additional fire lane signage is appropriate and tends to clarify the restriction of parking in some areas. I have come to three conclusions: 1. Restricted fire lane parking is currently divergent from Chief Aldrich’s April, 1978 order. 2. The Fire Marshal’s Office plans to revisit the fire apparatus access issues to ensure that the minimum requirements of the Minnesota State Fire Code and Fridley City Code are being met throughout this complex. 3. Complex traffic and parking issues are exacerbated by the fact that street widths in the area are sub-width which further restricts general traffic flow into and out of the complex. If you require additional information, please contact me. Thank you. Ralph Messer, Fire Marshal City of Fridley Fire Department
