CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Lund called the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization Meeting of April 11, 2022, to order at 7:00
p.m.

NEW BUSINESS
1. LBAE Resolution No. 2022-01, Approving the Equalization of Assessed Valuations of Real and
Personal Property in the City of Fridley
Patrick Maghrak, City Assessor, stated that the purpose of the Board to establish an appeal process for
the valuation completed January 2, 2022 for taxes payable in 2023. He reviewed the courses of action
and responsibilities of the Board along with appeal procedures. He provided a summary of the 2022
assessment for residential homes, commercial and industrial, and apartments. He also provided details
on the current study period. He invited members of the public to come forward with any comments.
John Krack, 7629 Lakeside Road, commented in the high percentage of increase to the values for homes
in his neighborhood and the related decrease to the homestead credit.
Mr. Maghrak recognized that the benefit scale for homestead credits has not been recalibrated for the
past ten years and urged residents and the Council to reach out to its legislative representatives on that
topic.

Mr. Maghrak advised that Marilyn Hodgeman of 70 70 Way NE and Veronica Finch of 531 Rice Creek
Boulevard did not want to attend the meeting tonight but wanted to reserve their right to appeal to the
County.

Anna Botilla, 6434 Riverview Terrace Northeast, spoke about the increase to property values in reaction
to the market.
Mr. Maghrak confirmed the valuation follows the market.
There were no additional comments from the public.
Mr. Maghrak provided updated exhibits.
Motion made by Councilmember Bolkcom to enter into the record 2022 Exhibit A and Exhibit B. Seconded
by Commissioner Tillberry.
UPON A VOICE VOTE, ALL VOTING AYE, MAYOR LUND DECLARED THE MOTION CARRIED
UNANIMOUSLY.
Motion made by Councilmember Ostwald to adopt Resolution LBAE No. 2022-01 Approving the
Equalization of Assessed Valuations of Real and Personal Property in the City of Fridley. Seconded by
Commissioner Eggert.
UPON A VOICE VOTE, ALL VOTING AYE, MAYOR LUND DECLARED THE MOTION CARRIED
UNANIMOUSLY.
ADJOURN
Motion made by Councilmember Eggert to adjourn the Local Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting.
Seconded by Councilmember Ostwald.
UPON A VOICE VOTE, ALL VOTING AYE, MAYOR LUND DECLARED THE MOTION CARRIED
UNANIMOUSLY AND THE MEETING ADJOURNED AT 7:25 P.M.
