Resolution No. 2023-141
Approving a Regional Solicitation Grant Application to the Metropolitan Council
for the Safe Routes to School Improvements Project
Whereas, the Regional Solicitation Program provides federal transportation funding for
projects as part of the Metropolitan Council’s federally required continuing, comprehensive and
cooperative transportation planning process for the seven-county Twin Cities Metropolitan
Area; and
Whereas, the Metropolitan Council is accepting candidate projects for the Fiscal Years 2028-2029
and providing up to 80 percent of the project construction cost for transportation projects; and
Whereas, the City of Fridley is seeking Regional Solicitation funds to construct improvement
projects outlined in the approved Safe Routes to Schools Plans for Fridley Middle School and
Hayes Elementary.
Now therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby:
1. Authorizes the submittal of a 2024 Regional Solicitation application for the construction of
the Safe Routes to School Improvements Project; and
2. Commits to providing the required 20% match for the project; and
3. Commits to maintaining the project for year-round use following construction.
