Dear Mr. Kondrick,
On behalf of the City Council, commissions and staff, as well as the greater community of Fridley,
Minnesota, we wish to thank you for your devotion, commitment and endless contributions
through your leadership and valued service to the City of Fridley for more than 40 years.
As Chairperson on the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission, your
willingness to lead and preside over often very complicated meetings and important decisions
has helped the City to achieve many successful ventures, projects, and initiatives.
While not a complete list, the following summarizes some of the more notable successes and
achievements in which you have participated in or contributed toward during your volunteer
service:
PLANNING COMMISSION
Served as member for 40 years and chairperson for more than 13 years
Fridley Visioning and Civic Campus
Medtronic World Headquarters
Cummins Power Plant Headquarters
Christiansen Crossing
Redevelopment of the BAE/FMC Site into Northern Stacks
Northstar Rail Station Site Installation
Fridley Market Redevelopment
Unity Hospital Expansion
Multi-housing Development Projects (Gateway East, Gateway West, Holly Center,
Railstation, etc.)
Five Comprehensive Planning Processes
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
Served as member for 42 years and chairperson for 20 years
The development of the Fridley Community Park (1994)

The development of the Springbrook Nature Center, the SPRING project, and the
Interpretive Center, and the recently completed Pavilion/Activity Center
In 2003, Mr. Kondrick was recognized by the Minnesota Park and Recreation Association
with the Professional Award for Boards & Commissions
The restoration of Springbrook Nature Center after the 1986 tornado
The Fridley Community Center Project (a cooperative venture with Independent School
District 14 - Fridley)
The Hayes Gym Renovation Project (another joint venture with District ISD #14)
The completion of two major Park Service Area studies, one in 1997 and the second in
2008. The studies were used for the systematic development and renovations in the City's
park and recreation facilities.
The development of Riverview Heights park
The re-development of Meadowlands park
Provided guidance on the annual Parks 5-year Capital Improvement program
The installation of new playground equipment at 29 City parks and 4 school-park
playground sites
The initiation of the Parks System Master Plan Ï Finding Your Fun in Fridley
In addition, the Parks and Recreation Commission established many policies and
guidelines over the years in the following areas: program scholarships/fee waivers,
Tobacco-free parks, wildlife management, satisfaction guaranteed programs,
bikeway/walkway planning, Adopt-a-Park Program, tree preservation, feeding of wildlife,
Safe Routes to Schools, and much, much more.
In speaking with your fellow commissioners and City staff, it is no surprise to us that they are also
very grateful for your leadership, your expert management of the meeting and governance
process, and how comfortable you make them feel to share their input and ideasÐnoting that
you also make the public feel very welcomed, valued, and heard through the public meeting
process.
Again, on behalf of a very grateful community, thank you Dave, for your devotion, your volunteer
efforts and many contributions to the City of Fridley for more than four decades! It has been a
pleasure working with you and we wish you the very best in your future endeavors.
