Resolution No. 2024-148, Authorizing an Agreement with Xcel Energy Consenting to Improvements for City of Fridley K-9 Training Facility
Resolution No. 2024-148
Authorizing an Agreement with Xcel Energy
Consenting to Improvements for City of Fridley K-9 Training Facility
Whereas, the City of Fridley (City) has had limited space and utility of its K-9 Training Facility
where currently combined with its impound area on Hickory Street; and
Whereas, the Public Safety and Public Works Departments evaluated a site at Locke Park that is
currently unutilized that would be particularly suitable due to its proximity, adequate space, and
public screening; and
Whereas, the site is located on City property within an Xcel Energy utility easement that prohibits
permanent structures or other improvements with the land, but would allow fencing and challenge
elements related to a K-9 Training Facility to exist within its easement; and
Whereas, the City has the means to develop plans and make improvements necessary to establish
a K-9 Training Facility; and
Whereas, Xcel Energy has agreed in principal to such a use with the terms of allowable use in the
attached Consent Agreement.
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley does hereby agree to
the terms and conditions of the attached Consent To Improvements agreement, and further will
pursue establishing the planned K-9 Training Facility within the area described.
th
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Fridley this 14 day of October, 2024.
