Items for Discussion
1. MnDOT Trunk Highway 47/University Avenue Update
Chris Bower from MnDOT provided a historical overview of the Corridor Study on Highway
47/University Avenue. The Corridor has a very high percentage of serious and fatal accidents
with pedestrians and bicyclists. The traffic analysis of the various design options (do nothing,
roundabouts, signals/grade separation) show that roundabouts provide the most efficient
design for vehicles and pedestrians. Construction on this project would not begin until 2030 at
the earliest. The project is dependent on finding grants for funding. MnDOT, Anoka County,
Metro Transit and the City of Fridley will need to cooperate on the funding effort.
2. Commons Park Update
Jim Kosluchar provided an update on the design elements of the park and new building
3. 2025 Budget Discussion – Utility Budges/Rates
Joe Starks provided an update on the Utility funds as they relate to the Locke Park Water
Treatment Plant.
4. Draft 2025 City Calendar
A draft of the 2025 City Calendar was given to the City Council for review. The calendar will be
on the agenda for approval at the November 12, City Council Meeting.
