Accepting the Resignation of Councilmember Tillberry, Declaring a Vacancy on the City
Council and Calling for Appointment of a Qualified Person
Whereas, on February 10, 2025 Councilmember Tom Tillberry submitted his resignation effective
immediately; and
Whereas, the resignation of Councilmember Tillberry creates a vacancy on the City Council; and
Whereas, pursuant to Section 2.07.1 of the Fridley City Charter, a vacancy will be deemed by
reason of resignation from office; and
Whereas, pursuant to Section 2.07.2 of the Fridley City Charter, “if a vacancy is declared to exist,
the Council shall, within 30 days, appoint by majority vote a qualified person to assume the office
until the next general election.”
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley accepts the resignation
of Councilmember Tillberry effective immediately.
Be it further resolved, the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby declares a vacancy in the
office of Councilmember of Ward 1.
Be it finally resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley proceed to fill the office of
Councilmember of Ward 1 within 30 days by appointment for a term to expire after the next
General Election.
