Resolution No. 2025-138, Approving Interim Use Permit, IUP #25-02 for a Temporary Outdoor Storage Container at 7490 Central Ave NE (Ward 2) Resolution No. 2025-138 Approving Interim Use Permit, IUP #25-02 for a Temporary Outdoor Storage Container at 7490 Central Avenue NE (Ward 2) Whereas, on August 15, 2025, the City of Fridley (City) received an Interim Use Permit (IUP) request from Brenk Brothers Inc. to allow temporary use of the property at 7490 Central Ave NE for the outdoor storage of shipping containers; and Whereas, the property located at 7490 Central Ave NE is legally described as Lot 2 Block 1 Kuban Addition; and Whereas, interim uses are defined and regulated by Fridley City Code (Code) § 650.03.5; and Whereas, the use identified in IUP #25-02 application has been reviewed against the Code § 650.03.5 and meets the minimum standards; and Whereas, on September 17, 2025, the Planning Commission held a public hearing to consider, IUP #25-02, to allow the temporary use of 7490 Central Ave NE for the outdoor storage of shipping containers; and Whereas, at September 17, 2025 meeting, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of IUP #25-02 with the conditions in Exhibit A; and Whereas, on October 13, 2025, the Fridley City Council approved the stipulations in Exhibit A to this resolution as the conditions on IUP #25-02; and Whereas, the petitioner, Brenk Brothers Inc., was presented with Exhibit A, the conditions for IUP #25-02 at the October 13, 2025, City Council meeting; and Whereas, per Code § 650.03.5.G, the Council may review an IUP periodically and may revoke a permit upon violation of any condition of the permit, any law of the United States or the State of Minnesota, or any City ordinance. Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves Interim Use Permit, IUP #25-02 and the conditions represented in Exhibit A are hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Fridley. th Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Fridley this 13 day of October 2025. _______________________________________ David Ostwald – Mayor Attest: Melissa Moore – City Clerk Exhibit A Conditions of the Interim Use Permit, IUP #25-02 1. The Interim Use Permit, IUP #25-02 will expire if the interim use ceases operation for a continuous period of at least one year or three years from the date of Council approval. 2. The permittee shall be limited to enclosed storage within one shipping container, not to exceed three hundred fifty (350) square feet in size. 3. The shipping container shall be located only in the location identified on the approved site plan and shall be maintained in a neat and orderly condition so as to allow adequate circulation throughout the property. 4. The shipping container shall be screened from public view through the use of existing vegetation and foliage on the property in accordance with Fridley City Code § 635. Any removal or substantial thinning of said vegetation that results in diminished screening may require supplemental screening as determined by City staff. 5. Enclosed storage within the shipping container shall comply with the Minnesota State Fire Code and shall be subject to review and approval by the City Fire Marshal.
