Awarding Professional Services For Development of Safe Streets for All Citywide Safety
Action Plan
Whereas, the City of Fridley (City) is committed to increasing the safety of the traveling public,
including motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, through the reduction of roadway fatalities and
serious injuries; and
Whereas, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has awarded the City a federal Safe
Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant in the amount of $220,000 for the development of a
Comprehensive Citywide Safety Action Plan; and
Whereas, the City has successfully secured $55,000 in state funding to cover the 20% local match
requirement, resulting in a total project budget of $275,000 with no direct impact on the City’s
general fund; and
Whereas, the City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to four specialized firms, receiving two
qualifying proposals that were evaluated based on technical expertise, comprehensive safety
analysis, and innovative design solutions.
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves the
award of a professional services contract for the development of the Citywide Safety Action Plan
to Bolton & Menk, Inc.
