Approving Entering into a Contract for Health Insurance with Medica, Inc. for the 2026 Plan
Year
Whereas, the City of Fridley (City) provides health insurance benefits to its employees as part of its
total compensation package; and
Whereas, the City issued a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) for employee health insurance
coverage for the 2026 plan year and received multiple proposals from qualified carriers; and
Whereas, City staff conducted a thorough evaluation of all proposals based on cost, coverage,
network adequacy, customer service, and overall value to employees and the City; and
Whereas, after careful analysis, Medica, Inc. was determined to offer the most advantageous
combination of coverage, affordability, and service; and
Whereas, staff recommends approval of the final contract for the 2026 plan year.
Now, therefore, be it resolved, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves the
health insurance contract with Medica, Inc. for the 2026 plan year as presented, and the City Manager
and/or authorized staff are directed to execute all necessary documents to implement this
agreement.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Fridley this 26th day of January, 2026.
