Re: House Roof framing 7577 & 7579 Able Street NE, Fridley, MN
Steve;
I made a visual inspection on April 12, 2023 to verify the roof framing for the residence at 7527
& 7529 Able Street and have applied that existing roof framing to the residence at 7577 & 7579
Able Street. The existing roof framing for both residences is for a 4:12 sloped rafter system
consisting of 2x4 rafters and 2x4 ceiling joists all at 16" o.c., diagonal bracing is a 2x4 at 32" o.c.
The purpose of the inspection is to verify a way of supporting the ceiling once the first floor non-
load bearing interior wall between the kitchen and the living room is removed. The wall in
question once removed will make the room almost 22' in width for the residences use.
The general procedure for the renovation, is to be able to support the existing ceiling framing.
Items to be done; support the ceiling area being modified, remove the non-load bearing interior
wall, cut out a 4'+/-width of the existing sheet rock ceiling for accessing the attic framing,
adding a support beam (2 — 2x10's) above and perpendicular to the existing ceiling joists, tie the
beam and joists together with 2 Simpson H2.5A clips and tying all the framing back together.
Keep in mind that, the construction sequence and the means and method will be up to the
contractor.
Enclosed you will find three pages.
