Dear Mr.Pearson,
Larson Engineering has been asked to conduct a visual inspection of the existing foundation at the above
referenced address.The existing home is 1-1/2 stories with an 8"CMU block foundation.The existing
footings around the perimeter of the house appeared to be 1'-4"wide x 8"deep. The home had an existing
bearing line located in the center of the home on the main floor and upper floor with a hand framed roof
that clear spans from exterior wall to exterior wall.The desire is to remove the existing hand framed roof
and replace it with pre-engineered roof trusses that will clear span making the upper floor a completely
occupiable floor.
Larson Engineering conducted an on-site inspection of the home.Based on the visual inspection,in our
professional opinion the existing foundation is adequate to support the additional load that will be added
by increasing the occupiable space of the upper floor. Larson Engineering's review was limited to the
foundation only and not the new framing system.
