Resolution No. 2026-65
Authorizing a ReLeaf Grant Agreement with the Minnesota Department of Natural
Resources for the Income-Qualified Ash Tree Removal Program
Whereas, a large number of ash trees in the City of Fridley (City) are becoming hazardous as a
result of Emerald Ash Borer; and
Whereas, removing ash trees carries a large financial and ecological cost; and
Whereas, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources made funding available through the
ReLeaf grant program to mitigate these costs; and
Whereas, the City applied for and was awarded $247,869.40 in funding to remove and replace
ash trees on income-qualified properties and to purchase equipment for the chemical injection
of public ash trees.
Now therefore be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fridley, Minnesota, that City
of Fridley staff are directed to execute the Grant Agreement, and
Furthermore, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fridley, Minnesota, that upon
execution of the grant agreement that City of Fridley staff are authorized to implement this
program.
