HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 2026-84, Receive a Petition and Ordering Preparation of a Preliminary Report for Traffic Claming Improvements on 60th Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Street Resolution No. 2026-84 Receiving a Petition and Ordering Preparation of a Preliminary Report for Traffic Calming Improvements on 60th Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Street Whereas, a petition was submitted to the City of Fridley (City) by residents of the neighborhood adjacent to 60th Avenue, requesting that the City implement traffic calming improvements along 60th Avenue from 4th Street to 7th Street; and Whereas, the petition cites localized safety concerns, residential pedestrian risks, and increased cut-through traffic volumes associated with the 60th Avenue access point to nearby multi-family developments; and Whereas, the City Clerk has received said petition and staff has verified that it contains the requisite signatures from property owners within the affected residential area. Now therefore be it resolved, that the City Council hereby: 1. A petition requesting that the City implement traffic improvements along 60th Avenue is hereby received by the City Council on July 27, 2026, and is hereby declared to be signed by the required percentage of owners of property affected thereby to authorize referral and further action. This declaration is made in conformity to Minn. Stat. § 429.035. 2. That the aforementioned petition for proposed improvement is hereby referred to the Public Works Director, James Kosluchar, PE, and that person is instructed to report to the Council with all convenient speed advising the Council in a preliminary way as to whether the proposed improvement is necessary, cost-effective, and feasible; whether it should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other improvement; the estimated cost of the improvement as recommended; and a description of the methodology used to calculate individual assessments for affected parcels. 3.
