AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE II3STALLATION OF WATER
SOFTENERS AND THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS AND FEES
THEREFOR AND ENACTING CHAPTER �f20
THE COUNCIZ OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY DO ORD2IN AS FOLLOWSt
There is hereby enacted a new chapter of the City Code of the City
of Fridley as follows:
SECTION 1:
Any person, other than the home owner, a master plumbex ar a
journeytnan plumber who installs waCer softenexs and filtering equipment;
must secure a pexmit for each installatio❑ from the Building Laepartmeat
of t3he City of Fridley. Such a permit shall be granted if openings have
been left so that the water softening or water filCering equipment may
be connected to the water distribution system through openings left for
that purpose; or provided such connection may be made by use of a cold
water connection to a domestic water heater. A permit shall not be gra.nted
if it is necessary to make any extension or alteYation of any pipe or
fixture in the water system.
SECTION 2:
This chapter sha11 not be construed to require a permit or insnection
for service of the waCer softener commonly known as an "exchange unit" where
. such exchange is designed to be made at regular intervals, but it does require
_ that a permit be obtained for the iniCial installation of such exchange devices
' 3ECTION 3;
The permit fee for installing a water treating device sha11 be Five
and no hundredths ($5.00) Dollars for each device installed.
