AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 508 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY
RELATING TO PARKS AND PARKWAYS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION l. Section 508.02 Definitions, is amended to read as follows:
508.02 Definitions
The word "Commission" as used in this Chapter is hereby defined to mean
the Parks and Recreation Commission;of the City of Fridley. And the
term "Parks° means parks, parkways,.playgrounds, recreation fields and
buildings, lakes, streams rivers and beaches therein and all public
service.faciTities conducted on grounds, 6uildings and structures in
the City of Fridley which are under the control of the Parks and
Recreation Commission except that the provision of 508.21 regarding
Alcoholic Beveraae shall aoolv to all Citv. Countv and other oublic
park5 witnin tne �ity, Whether or nOt und2r the control ot the YarY.s
and Recreation Commission. Insofar as this Chapter relates to beaches,
it is to be construed as supplementary to and not to supercede the
existing provisions in Chapters 5�7 of the Code.
SECTION 2. Sec±ion 508.21 Alcoholic Bevera�e, is amended to read as follows:
508.21 Alcoholic Bev
It sha17 be unlawful for any person- io have in his possession or to
consume any intoxicating liquor or nonintoxicating malt liquor in or
upon any City, Countv or nther �ublic park, parkway or bathing beach
within the City except as providea in subdivision 1, 2 and 3 below:
Subd. 1 Not withstanding laaas to the contrary, possession and
consumption of nonintoxicating malt liquor is permitted in Locke
Park.
Subd. 2 The City Council may._s7rant permission to consume non-
intoxicating malt liquor in City, County or other public parks
t� neighborhood nroups.
Subd. 3 Not withstanding any.laws to the contrary, upon approval
of the City Council, and issuance of a permit, a club or charitable
religious or nonprofit public or private organization may sell and
allow buyers to consume nonintoxicating malt liquor in the Commons
Park.
