The City Council of the City of Fridley does hereby ortlain as follows: 513.01. PORP06E l. The purpose of this Chapter is to protect the public health and safety arising out of the use of skateboaYds, rollerskis, mllerskates and rollerblades within the City; to regulate the use thereof upon public streets, sidew�lks, and bikeway/walkways; to prohibit the same from Fridley Plaza Center and from public tennis cou2-ts; to prohibit the same fr�n public or private parking areas without ��++;ssion of the owners; and to provide penalties for violations. 2. Nothiny in this Chapter shall be construed to prohibit the use of a wheelchair or any other wheeled device designed to assist a disabled person on any of the places mentioned in this Chapter. 513.02. n�'rONS The following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and application of this Chapter, and the following woxtls and tcrntis, wherever they occur in this Chapter, are defined as follows: 1. Skatebaard. A non-motorized platform mounted on wheels which are not greater than si�c (6) is�ches in diameter. 2. Rollerski. A non-motorized ski-like device mounted on wheels which are not greater than six (6) inches in diameter. 3. Rollerskate/Rollerblade. A non-motorized device with wheels not greater tlian six (6) inche5 in diameter which is attached to a shoe or designed to be attached to a shce. 513.03. �R7'� ACIS It shall be unlawful for any person to ride or propel onesel£ upon skata�oards, mllerskis, rollerskates or rollerblades in any of the following circ�nnstances: l. In the Fridley Plaza Center bounded by Fourmies Avenue on the south, by N.E. 5th Street on the east, by the Fridley Municipal Center on the north, and by University Avenue Service IIrive on the west. 2. on any public tennis court in the City of FYidleyo Page 2- Orclinaxice No. 927 � 3. On any public or private parking lot, ramp, area or facility without the expressed pPmm;ssion of the owner. 4. In any area within the City while being pushed, pulled or in anyway propelled by any motorized vehicle or by a person on a bicycle. 5. Contrary to the statutory provisions applicable to the operation of bicycles. 513.04. EX�PIONS The provisions of this Chapter shall not proh�bit the owner of a property Prom using those premises for skatebo�ds, rollerskis, rollerskates or rollerblades for the awner's own use or for an o�anized event conducted with the owner's permission. 513.05. F�FrrAin� Any violation of this Chapter is a misdemeanor and is subject to all penalties provided for such violations under the provisions of Chapter 901 of this Code.
