RESOLUTION NO. 82 - 196o A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND RIVERVIEW TERRACE WHEREAS, the City of Fridley, in the performance of its func- tions and duties as a lawfully constituted municipality, acting under the power and authority of its "HOME RULE C ?EARTER" enacted pursuant to and under the laws of the State of Minnesota, has a duty and responsibility to safeguard, so far as reasonably possible the condition of all streets in said City of Fridley for the bene- fit of its inhabitants and the public generally, and, WHEREAS, there is located in the City of Fridley adjacent to the Mississippi River a certain public street commonly known as Riverview Terrace, which said public street is being and has been damaged from time to time by erosion action caused by currents and floods of the Mississippi River, and, WHEREAS, it appears that except and unless remedial steps are taken by the appropriate governmental authorities to correct the actions and effects of the currents and floods of the Mississippi River, that continued damage will be caused to the lands underlying and the surfaces of said public street, ultimately to the complete ruin of said Riverview Terrace and any utilities located therein, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Council of the City of Fridley, as follows: 1. That it is in the interest of the City of Fridley, its in- habitants and the public generally that the City of Frid- ley take such steps as are reasonably necessary on its part to prevent damage to Riverview Terrace by erosion of the lands underlying said streets as is caused by the cur- rents and floods of the Mississippi River. 2. That the City of Fridley requests any and all governmental bodies having jurisdiction with respect to the Mississippi River in the matter, including the United States of America acting by and through its various representative agencies and bureaus, to take such steps as are reasonably necessary and proper to prevent further erosion of said lands by such currents and floods of the Mississippi River and to take such action as will correct and safeguard the said River- view Terrace from further damage by reason of the actions of said Mississippi River. 3. That a copy of this resolution may and shall be directed by the City Manager of the City of Fridley to each and every such governmental unit, or its agency or bureau having jurisdiction and authority in the matter, and when so directed the same shall constitute a request to such body for aid and assistance to the City of Fridley in re- spect to this matter. 4. The City Manager shall communicate to this Council and report from time to time to whom such communication and request has been made and what answers and responses thereto have been given and all results thereof, all to the interest of correcting as soon as reasonably possible the damage already caused to said Riverview Terrace and safeguarding said street from all further damage by actions of said Mississippi River. Brunsell RESOLUTION No. 83 - 1960 A RESOLUTION RENAMING RIVER CREST ROAD WHEREAS, River Crest Road, in the Mississippi View Addition to the City of Fridley is carried by the Post Office Department on its records as Riverview Terrace, and WHEREAS, the change of street name from River Crest Road to Riverview Terrace has not been registered at Anoka County, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Section 1. River Crest Road in the Mississippi View Addition hereafter will be named, and known as, Riverview Terrace. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to register said change of street name with the proper authorities for Anoka County.
