A copy of this letter was sent to the County Engineer and Mr. 0'Bannon, County Commissioner. We too are interested in the traffic conditions at � this intersection and have already started a study to deter- mine signal warrants. Based on the preliminary study, it appears that this intersection will justify si�nalization. We are becoming increasingly concerned with the number of signals now existing and the number requested on T.H. 65. As was discussed at the Fridley Chamber of Commerce meeting yesterday, the number of si�nals in existence is considerable. This coupled with the signal request and possi- ble intersections that may warrant signals to us, present a problem that should be reviewed on more than just an inter- section basis. I am.sure that you are aware that we now have signals at 37�, �t0�, 41st, 44s�, 45s� and 49s� Avenues. It appears someday signals could be warranted at 52nd or 53rd . Avenue. Consideration may also have to be given to signali- zation at the ramp terminals at 694, should the demand be $reat enough. We are now committed to signals at the junction with Central Avenue. Signals exist at Mississippi Street, you are requesting.them at Osborne Road, and we are committed to sig- nals at County Road "J". We also ha.ve a signal request at the junction of T.H. 242. I am sure that you are aware that such,a large number of signals, no matter how important from a local traffic standpoint, could result in and almost complete traffic breakdown on Central Avenue as it concerns through traffic.
