Dear Bill:
At a recent meeting of the Village Council in New Brighton, a resolution
was unanimously passed complimenting WCCO Radio on its tornado warning broadcasts
and its devotion to duty. As you are well aware, the WCCO Radio tornado warning
program, sent over the airwaves on Thursday evening, May 6, not only alerted the
general public but also saved many,-many lives.
WCCO Radio did not lose one second in moving from its regular schedule of
broadcasting to the tornado warning program and its staff continued on the job
regardless of the impending peril to itt own loved ones and property.
It is my considered opinion that WCCO Radio acted in the best interests of
all the people in the axed and that its actions were exemplary.
I therefore personally urge you, through your office as head of the municipal
• government in your area, to take a similar action to that in New Brighton and pass
a resolution paying tribute to a great group of people from a great radio station.
The personnel of WCCO Radio, through their devotion to duty, not only saved
hundreds of lives but helped to bring families - seperated by the storm - together
again. WCCO Radio helped bring doctors and nurses to hospitals, alert civil
defense workers, and played an important part in the events of the evening.
Attached are two clippings from this weeks edition of the Anoka County Union,
Blaine Life and Coon Rapids Herald. These are for your information.
WCCO Radio has done an exemplary job and I think they should have a real pat
on the back for their fine public service.
I recall the lines of the poet who wrote: "A lot of attention one may win by
publicizing civic sin . But let me say it will not hurt you to give some space to
civic virtue."

Resolution Receiving the Preliminary Report and Ordering
Improvement, Final Plans and Specifications for Water,
Sanitary Sewer and Storm Sewer in the Proposed Innsbruck
5th Addition
WHEREAS, the construction of certain improvements is deemed to
be in the interest of the City of Fridley and the property owners affected
thereby.
WMMM, the property owners, Acres, Incorporated, whose property
is liable to be assessed with making of these improvements have valved the
requirements of a public hearing by letter dated May 14, 1965.
T"IMBFORB, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Fridley
as follows:
1. That the preliminary report submitted by Comstock and Davis,
Incorporated, Consulting Engineers, is hereby received and accepted.
2. That the following improvements are hereby ordered to be
effected and completed as soon as reasonably possible, to -wit:
Water laterals and service connections, sanitary sever laterals
and service connections, storm sewer and appurtenances in the streets and
servicing all the area described as the Proposed Innsbruck 5th Addition.
The work above may be consolidated with other areas as one improvement.
3. The work to be performed under this project may be
performed
under one or more contracts as may be deemed advisable upon receipt of
bids.
4. Comstock and Davis, incorporated, Consulting Nagineers, are
hereby designated as Engineers for this improvement. They shall prepare
final plans and specifications for making of such !Vroveaents.
