RESOLUTION NO. 42 -1965
RESOLUTION DECLARING OPPOSITION TO PASSAGE OF SF 375 AND SF 378.
WHEREAS, two bills have been introduced into the Minnesota
State Senate which deal with amendments to the State Public Employees
Retirement System, and
WHEREAS, Senate File #375 removes the responsibility of levying
taxes for retirement from the City Council and places it with the County '
Auditor, and
WHEREAS, Senate File #378 would change the City's participation
requirements from 8.5% and 11.5% of $4,800 to 8.5% and 11.5% of the
total salary received by an employee, thereby increasing the costs to
the City of Fridley $11,652.62 annually based on present payroll,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Fridley City Council
does hereby state its opposition to the aforementioned two bills and
urges its legislative representatives to actively work to defeat these
two measures.
