RESOLUTION NO. 93 -1965
A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING TO THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT THE AREAS
THAT ARE IN NEED OF REDEVELOPMENT OR REHABILITATION AS A REr-
SULT OF DISASTER
WHEREAS, on.the.6th day of May, 1965, a series of tornadoes struck
public and private property in the City of Fridley, causing great loss
of life and property, and - -.
WHEREAS, the President of -the United States by reason of the
catastrophe has determined the City of Fridley, Minnesota involved
in a major disaster pursuant to Public Law 875, 81st Congress;
NOW, THEREFORE, BK IT- RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Fridley, as follows:
1. That we do hereby certify that each of the areas designated as:
(a) University Avenue area, situated on the north: 61st Ave-
- nue N.E., on the west : University Avenue (State Highway
No. 47), on the south: Interstate Freeway 694, on the east:
7th Street northerly to 57th Avenue N.E., thence 5th Street norther-
ly to 57, Avenue N.E., thence 4th Street.northerly to 61st Avenue
N.E., and
(b) - City Center -area, situated on the ,north: Mississippi Street,
on the east: 7th Street, from Mississippi southerly to 64th
Avenue N.E., thence 5th Street southerly for a distance of 250 feet,
on the south: 64th Avenue Northeast from 7th Street westerly to
5th Street, thence a line 250 feet south of and parallel to 64th Ave-
nue N.E., westerly to University Avenue, thence Satellite Lane westerly
to 3rd Street (and extended) from Mississippi Street southerly to
Satellite Lane thence University Avenue southerly for a distance of
250 feet.
are in need of redevelopment or rehabilitation as a result of the
catastrophe which the President has determined a major disaster,
pursuant to Public Law 875, 81st Congress.
