RESOLUTION NO. 154 - 1968
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE MAYOR'S
PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE LEEK OF
OCTOBER 6, 1968 AS EMPLOY THE PHYSICALLY
HANDICAPPED WEEK
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Minnesota has inaugurated
a commission on Employment of Handicapped Persons; and
WHEREAS, he has called upon the State Jaycee organization to
assist in this program; and
WHEREAS, the Fridley Jaycees have called upon the Mayor to issue
a Proclamation and the City Council to support this effort; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council favor helping people to help
themselves; and ,
WHEREAS, employment of handicapped persons serves to restore
dignity to the individual and to translate tax spenders into tax payers:
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of
Fridley supports and endorses the Proclamation of the Mayor designating
the week of October 6, 1968 as "Employ the Physically Handicapped ?leek ",
encouraging all employers in the City of Fridley to undertake wherever
possible to employ handicapped persons and to otherwise cooperate
wherever practicable with the efforts of the Fridley JC;s and the
Governor's Commission in their efforts.
