` RESOLUTION No. 44 -1968
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING A FLOOD PLAIN
INFORMATION STUDY OF RICE CREEK IN THE I
CITY OF FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka County,
Minnesota, as follows:
WHEREAS, Rice-Creek flows through the City of Fridley, Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has had flooding problems due to Rice
Creek and it is anticipated that the problem,wil.l increase as lands within
the watershed area rapidly are developed for residential, commercial and
industrial purposes; and
WHEREAS, the method of disposing of surplus waters will be controlled
as land is developed and will cause rapid runoff and increased flooding;
and
WHEREAS, there is a need to develop a water management policy to
adequately plan the development of lands within the City of Fridley and
it is necessary to know the extent, frequency of flood flows and to
identify the Flood Plain Area more accurately for zoning purposes; and
WHEREAS, the flood plain information study is the first step in
establishing water management policy.
N014 THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
Fridley that a request be submitted to the Commissioner of Conservation,
State of Minnesota, requesting the United States Army, Corps of Engineers,
to institute and conduct a flood plain information study of Rice Creek
in the City of Fridley, Minnesota.
