RESOLUTION NO. 10 _1969
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF A NEW METROPOLITAN ZOO
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka
County, Minnesota as follows:
WHEREAS, the Fridley City Council has been asked to consider a
proposal of the Zoo Advisory Committee to the Metropolitan Council for
a new Metropolitan Zoo; and
WHEREAS, benefits would be derived by the residents of the City
of Fridley from a new Metropolitan Zoo by providing a facility for the
study and preservation of animal species, as well as a place for
family- centered recreation; and
WHEREAS, the facility would be largely self supporting, with
minimal financial cost to the public; and
WHEREAS, the Zoo would be of benefit to area citizens and businesses
and a major attraction for tourists,
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the Council of the City of
Fridley goes on record as being in favor of a new Metropolitan Zoo
and urges the State Legislature to implement these plans in the coming
Legislative Session.
