RES 1969-60 - 000100318� RESOLUTION NO. 60 -1969 ' A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR BIDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN DIPROVEMENTS FOR UNIVERSITY AVENUE EAST SERVICE ROAD FROM 69TH AVENUE TO 73RD AVE \UE INCLUDING THE 69TH AVENUE CROSSOVER ON UNIVERSITY AVENUE: STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ST. 1968 -1B WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 193 -1967, dated the 20th day of November, 1967 authorized the public hearing for the East Service Road of University Avenue between 69th Avenue and 73rd Avenue. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 207 -1967 dated the 18th day of December, 1967 and Resolution No. 17 -1968 dated the 5th day of February, 1968 ordered the improvement for the University Avenue East Service Road. WHEREAS, it is advisable to revamp the 69th Avenue crossover on University Avenue. WHEREAS, the Minnesota Highway Department has indicated their willingness to participate in the revamping of the 69th Avenue crossover. WHEREAS, pursuant to a Resolution # 59 -1969 of the City Council, adopted on the 7th day of April, 1969, Nasim M. Qureshi, City Engineer and Suburban Engineering Company, Incorporated, Consulting Engineers, have prepared plans and specifications for all of the improvements proposed by Resolution # 58 -1969 and has presented such plans and specifications to the Council for approval. _ ' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Fridley, Minnesota, as follows: (1) Such plans and specifications, a copy of which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, are hereby approved. (2) The work to be performed under St. 1968 -1B, University Avenue East Service Road and 69th Avenue Crossover, shall be performed under one contract. The City Manager shall accordingly prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper advertisements for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published fox two (2) weeks (at least 10 days), and shall specify the work to be done and will state the bids will be opened and considered at 11 :30 o'clock A.M., on the 5th day of May, 1969 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk, and accompanied by a cash deposit, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City for five per cent (57) of the amount of such bid. That the advertisement for bids for the construction of certain improvements for University Avenue East Service Road from 69th Avenue to 73rd Avenue including the 69th Avenue Crossover on University Avenue, Street Improvement Project St. 1968 -1B shall be substantially in form as that noted in Exhibit "B" attached hereto for reference and made a part hereof. This highway project is to revamp 69th Avenue Crossover on University Avenue N.E., and consists of the following principle items of work and approximate quantities: 530 Lin. Ft. 312 Sq. Engineering Company, Incorporated, 6875 Highway #65 Northeast, Fridley, Minnesota ' 55432• Telephone: 784 -6066 Plans and specifications may be examined at the office of the City Manager, and copies may be obtained for the Contractor's individual use by applying to Suburban Engineering, Inc. and depositing with them $10.00 - for each set of the project. The deposit will be refunded to each bidder submitting a bonafide bid upon return of the documents in good condition within ten (10) days from the bid opening date. Bids must be made on the basis of cash payment for work, and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check (on a responsible bank in the State of Minnesota) or a bidder's bond made payable without condition to the City of Fridley, Minnesota, in an amount of not less than 5% of the total amount of the bid. The City Council reserves the .right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities in any bids received without explanation. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days.
