REQUESTING MINNESOTA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT FOR DIRECTIONAL LEFT -
TURN ARROWS ON T.H. #47 AND 61ST AVENUE NORTHEAST
WHEREAS, the hazardous, busy intersection of University
Avenue (T.H. #47) and 61st Avenue Northeast has been the scene
of eleven accidents thus far in 1970, several of which in-
volved left turns, to include one fatal from said left turns,
and
WHEREAS, left turn lanes and signal pole and light is
installed, but does not allow for a left turn only period for
north and south bound traffic,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the
City of Fridley that the Minnesota Highway Department be and
is requested to install left turn directional signal arrow
lamps with left turn only time allocated by green arrow for
motorists making left turns from University Avenue (T.H. #47)
to 61st Avenue Northeast.
