RES 1971-94 - 00009366I Cif) RESOLUTION NO. 94 -1971 RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT THE INTERSECTION OF T.H. #47 (UNIVERSITY AVENUE) AND 69TH AVENUE WHEREAS, the crossover at 69th Avenue is the only outlet for Rice Creek Plaza North Addition on the West side of T.H. #47 (University Avenue), and WHEREAS, there is a considerable amount of traffic generated at times due to activities in the park and the County arena on the East side of T.H. #47 (University Avenue), and WHEREAS, there is only a narrow space in the crossover section of the highway between the main traffic lanes at this intersection, and WHEREAS, all of this creates a dangerous situation at this inter- section, and WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has received numerous complaints from the residents of Rice Creek Plaza North Addition on the West and Holiday Hills Addition on the East side of this intersection, which is an outlet for these developments, about the dangerous traffic situation at this intersection and the difficulty they have in getting onto the highway. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fridley, that the Minnesota Highway Department is hereby requested to install traffic signals at this location, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Fridley will be willing to bear their appropriate share of the traffic improvement of this inter- section.
