RES 1972-110 - 000084889i {1 RESOLUTION NO. 110 - 1972 A RESOLUTION THANKING REPRESENTATIVE BLATNIK I FOR HIS EFFORTS IN INCLUDING ANOKA COUNTY IN THE UPPER GREAT LAKES REGIONAL COMMISSION WHEREAS, the House Public Works Committee chaired by Representative John Blatnik on August 2, 1972, approved an economic development bill which provides for the inclusion of Anoka County in the Upper Great Lakes Regional Commission; and WHEREAS, if the proposed legislation is enacted and Anoka County is included in the Regional Commission, the County would become eligible for grants and technical assistance for industrial parks, airports and access roads, vocational training schools, and other programs available to the counties included in the Region; and WHEREAS, inclusion of Anoka County in the Upper Great Lakes Regional Commission area would be of significant benefit to the citizens of the Fridley; and WHEREAS, the proposed inclusion of AnAa County is as a direct result of Representative Blatnik's concern for improving the economic outlook for the citizens of Anoka County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Fridley City Council hereby goes , on record in favor of the inclusion of Anoka County in the Uoper Great Lakes Regional Commission and urges final passage of the proposed legislation which would accomplish this result; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriate letter be sent to Congressman Blatnik expressing appreciation and commendation for his efforts with respect to this proposed legislation and other matters in which he has acted on behalf of the residents of the City of Fridley ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS IITH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1972 MAYOR - F NK C.
