RES 1972-58 - 0000837599 RESOLUTION NO. 58 -1972 RESOLUTION ORDERING IMPROVEMENTS, APPROVAL OF PLANS AND ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS: WATER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #108 WHEREAS, Well #5 and Well #6 are in need of repairs and improvements. WHEREAS, Comstock & Davis, Incorporated, the City's Consulting Engineers has submitted two reports; one dated April 13, 1972 , the other dated April 27, 1972, regarding these repairs and improvements. WHEREAS, Comstock & Davis, Incorporated has submitted plans and specifications for immediate repairs and improvements for Well #5 and #6. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Fridley, Minnesota, as follows: 1. That the improvements recommended in the two reports are hereby ordered to be effected and completed as soon as possible. 2. Such plans and specifications, a copy of which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, are hereby approved. The work to be performed under Water Improvement Project #108 shall be performed under one contract. ' The City Manager shall accordingly prepare and cause to be inserted in the official newspaper advertisements for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published for two (2) weeks (at least 10 days), and shall specify the work to be done and will state that bids will be opened at 11 :30 A.M, on the 15th day of May, 1972 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, and that no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash deposit, bid bond, or certified check payable to the City for five per cent (5%) of the amount of such a bid. That the advertisement for bids for Water Improvement Project #108 shall be substantially in form as that noted in Exhibit "B" attached hereto for reference and made a part hereof. Brunsell 100 Resolution #58 -1972 Exhibit "B" NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS Sealed bids will be received and publicly opened by the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota, at the office of the City Manager, on the 15th day of May, 1972, at 11:30 a.m., and will be considered by the City Council of the City of Fridley at a regular Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. on the 15th day of May, 1972, for the furnishing of work and materials for the construction of Water Improvement Project No. 108. The project consists of the following: Well #5: Furnish and install submersible pump with all electrical equipment, wiring, appurtenances and incidentals. Well #6: Modify existing well by advancing construction to the Shakopee - Oneota Dolomite and Jordon Sandstone formations and performing all related work. All in accordance with plans and specifications prepared for the City of Fridley, Minnesota, by Comstock & Davis, Inc., Consulting Engineers, 1446 County Road "J ", Minneapolis, Minnesota 55432, Telephone 784 -9346. Plans and specifications may be examined at the office of the City Manager and copies may be obtained for the Contractor's individual use by applying to the Engineers and depositing with the Engineers $25.00 for each set. The deposit will be refunded to each bidder submitting a bonafide bid upon return of the documents in good condition within ten (10) days from the date of opening bids, and to non - bidders upon the return of the documents in good condition prior to the opening of the bids. Bids must be made on the basis of cash payment for the work, and accompanied by a cash deposit, certified check (on a responsible bank in the State of Minnesota), or a bidder's bond and made payable without condition to the City of Fridley, Minnesota in an amount of not less than 5% of the total amount of the bid. The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities in any bids received without explanation. No bids may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days.
