RES 1973-105 - 00008173169 RESOLUTION NO. 105 -1973 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE REVISED LAYOUT FOR A PROPOSED LOOPBACK IN THE SOUTHEAST QUADRANT OF THE INTERSECTION OF MINNESOTA T.H. #6S AND CENTRAL AVENUE, AND APPROVING THE REVISED LAYOUT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF T.H. #65 AND CENTRAL AVENUE INTERSECTION WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has been concerned about the traffic safety at the intersection of Trunk Highway #65 and Central Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City of Fridley Staff, in cooperation with the Anoka County Highway Department, had made certain proposals for the improvement of the intersection to the City Council of the City of Fridley; and WHEREAS, the City Council approved a plan for this intersection by their Resolution #20 -1972 adopted on the 7th day of February, 1972; and WHEREAS, pursuant to that resolution the City Staff pursued further discussions with Anoka County and Minnesota Highway Department; and WHEREAS, there was some exchange of properties between Minnesota Highway Department and Anoka County towards the execution of the proposed plan approved by Resolution #20 -1972; and WHEREAS, the City Council held further discussions regarding the improvement of this intersection with the residents of the neighborhood at the Council Meetings of March 12, 1973 and March 19, 1973; and WHEREAS, after discussions with the neighborhood, it was the concen- sus of the City Council that a- revision to the original plan would be a better proposal to the solution of the problem of this intersection; which is, detaching Hillwind Road and making it follow Lynde Drive and Polk Street, as shown on attached Exhibit "A ", rather than going behind the Union Oil gas station. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the revised plan for the improve- ment of the intersection of T.H. #65 and Central Avenue, along with the detachment of Hillwind Road following the route of Lynde Drive and Polk Street, as shown on attached Exhibit "A ", is hereby approved, and the City Engineering Department is hereby directed to work with Anoka County Highway Department and Minnesota Highway Department towards the execu- tion and construction of this plan as soon as possible.
