RESOLUTION NO. 54 -1973
REGARDING PROPOSED LEGISLATIVE CHANGE IN THE FIREMEN'S PENSION
LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Fridley has authorized the
preparation of a bill which would amend the existing legislation
establishing the Fremen's pension retirement; and
WHEREAS, the Fridley Firemen's Relief Association has requested
an amendment to the existing legislation establishing their retirement
pension; and
WHEREAS, both the City Council and the Firemen's Relief Association
is in unanimous agreement with the provisions of the proposed bill; and
WHEREAS, the Council has reviewed actuarial studies regarding the
effect of the proposed changes; and
WHEREAS, the Council is of the opinion that the existing and future
revenues will make said plan, as revised, actuarially sound; and
WHEREAS, the Fridley City Council acknowledges they understand the
potential cost of the retirement program as contained in the legisla-
tion requested;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Fridley, that the Council urges Senator Schaaf, Representative Connors
and Representative McCarron to do everything within their power to
expedite passage of this legislation.
