RES 1974-16 - 0000778126 RESOLUTION NO. 16 -1974 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION TO APPLY FOR FUNDS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF "ISLANDS OF PEACE" PARK PROPERTY UNDER THE PROVISION OF THE STATE NATURAL RESOURCE FUND WHEREAS, the State Natural Resource Fund provides for the making of grants to assist local public bodies in the acquisition and development of outdoor recreation projects and WHEREAS, the City of Fridley desires to acquire certain lands for the Island of Peace Park Project, which land is to be held and used for park purposes, and WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 P.L. 88 -354 (1964) and of the regulations promulgated pursuant to such Act by the Sec- retary of the Interior and contained in 43 C.F.R. 17, effecting that title, provides that no person shall be descriminated against because of race, color, or national origin in the use of the land acquired and /or developed, and WHEREAS, it is estimated that the cost of acquiring said property shall be $71,000.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY, 1. That an application be made to the Office of Local and Urban Affairs of the State Planning Agency for a grant from the Natural Resource Fund (Ch. 879 and 1139, Minn. Laws 1969) for an amount presently estimated to be $35,500.00 and the applicant will pay the balance of the cost from the other funds available to it. 2. That Jerrold Boardman, Planning Assistant, is hereby authorized and directed to execute and to file such application with the State of Minnesota Office of Local and Urban Affairs of the State of Minnesota and to provide additional information and to furnish documents as may be required by said Agency, to execute such contracts as are required by said Agency and to act as the auth- orized correspondent of the Applicant. 3. That the proposed acquisition and development is in accordance with plans for the allocation of land for open space uses, and that should said grant be made, the applicant will acquire, develop and retain said land for use(s) designated in said application and approved by the Office of Local and Urban Affairs and the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. 4. That the United States of America and the State of Minnesota be, and they hereby are, assured of full compliance by the applicant with the regulations of the Department of the Interior, effectuating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. r 9 27, RESOLUTION NO. 16 -1974 Page 2 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS 14TH DAY OF JANUARY 1974. fora.
