A RESOLUTION TO REQUEST THAT THE ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY
COUNCIL POSTPONE ITS FINAL DECISION ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT STATEMENT FOR THE USE OF NORTH PARK
WHEREAS, the issue of the use of North Park for a golf course has been brought
before the Environmental Quality Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley, in the best interest of its citizens, has
decided to present the issue of the use of North Park as a golf course or a nature
center to the citizens of Fridley in a referendum vote on November 5, 1974; and
WHEREAS, such a vote will determine the actual use of North Park and its
decision will be binding on the Fridley City Council; and
WHEREAS, any action taken at this time by the Environmental Quality Council
would be premature and based on a decision not yet made on the use of North Park
by the Fridley City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fridley
that the Environmental Quality Council is hereby requested to postpone any decision
on the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement on the use of North Park
as a golf course until the actual use of the North Park property can be determined
through general referendum on November 5, 1974.
