RESOLUTION NO. 180 -1975
A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF FRIDLEY REQUESTING THE
MINNESOTA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO CONSTRUCT NOISE
BARRIERS ALONG INTERSTATE 694 IN FRIDLEY.
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Highway Department has
completed a study which indicates that due to high noise
levels, certain areas along Interstate 694 in Fridley rank
high in priority to receive federal and state funding to
construct noise harriers at no cost to the City; and
WHEREAS, d public meeting was held to receive comments
from residents adjacent to the freeway regarding a proposal
from the Minnesota Highway Department for construction of
noise barriers; and
WHEREAS, a majority of the residents affected by the
proposed improvement indicated that they were in favor of
the noise barriers; and
WHEREAS, a second public information meeting will be
scheduled to receive comments regarding plans and specifi-
cations prepared by the Minnesota Highway Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Fridley requests the Minnesota Highway
Department to proceed with design of plans and specifications
to construct wood noise barriers along the South side of
Street to Matterhorn Drive and Matterhorn Drive to the East
City limits; and, on the North side of Interstate 694 from
Polk Street to Matterhorn Drive.
