RESOLUTION NO. 193— ,1975
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MINNESOTA HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO PREPARE PLANS AND
PROVIDE LANDSCAPING ALONG STATE HIGHWAYS TH 47, TH 65 & I.694 WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS OF FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA
WHEREAS, landscaping plan 315 S.P. 0205 -42 2726 -40 (TH -156) was
proposed and implemented by the Minnesota Highway Department along TH 47

from St. Anthony Boulevard in Minneapolis to 69th Avenue NE in Fridley in

1973; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley feels the Minnesota Highway Department should
extend the landscaping project along all state right -of -ways within Fridley
as part of a highway beautification project; and
WHEREAS, there are federal programs, such as Highway Beautification (2062)
as indicated in the July Issue of the Grants Newsletter Volume 2, No. 7,
which states that up to 75% of the cost is provided for beautifying highways
through landscaping and roadside developments; and
WHEREAS, one of the requirements of these programs is that they be
administered by the state and all funding be appropriated through state offices;
and
WHEREAS, The City of Fridley would like to see the Minnesota Highway
Department avail federal funds to help implement highway beautification and
landscaping development and to proceed with the program as soon as possible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Fridley, that the Minnesota Highway Department is hereby requested to prepare
plans and provide landscaping along State Highways TH 47, TH 65 & I.694 within
the corporate limits of the City of Fridley.
