RESOLUTION NO. 44 -1977
A RESOLUTION OPPOSING HOUSE FILE 805 RELATING TO SUPERVISORS AND CONFIDENTIAL
EMPLOYEES BEING REPRESENTED BY THE SAME EMPLOYEE ORGANIZATION OR UNION AS
REPRESENTS NON- SUPERVISORY OR NON - CONFIDENTIAL EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, House File 805 would create a direct and irreconcilable conflict of
interest if supervisors and confidential employees are affiliated with the same union
as non - supervisory employees; and
WHEREAS, House File 805 would erode the ability of cities and other public
employers to represent their interests at the bargaining table; and
WHEREAS, House File 805 would reduce the ability of cities and other public
employers to effectively manage their operations and to provide public services; and
WHEREAS, House File 805 would further blur the distinction between management
and employee,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Fridley hereby
goes on record as being in opposition to House File 805, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the appropriate legislative representatives.
