A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO SENATE FILE 1732 WHICH WOULD PROHIBIT
PUBLIC EMPLOYEES FROM DRAWING FIRE PENSIONS WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY WITH
THE CITY
WHEREAS, The City of Fridley's fire fighting force is comprised
primarily of volunteers, and,
WHEREAS, Approximately 25% of the volunteers are made up of City
' employees, and
WHEREAS, The elimination of the City employees as volunteer fire
fighters would substantially curtail the fire fighting force.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of
Fridley, hereby goes on record as being opposed to that portion of
Senate File 1732, which prohibits City employees from drawing volunteer
firefighter's pension benefits while remaining City employees.
