RESOLUTION NO. 43 - 1979
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF MUNICIPAL SELF- INSURANCE ON A POOLING
BASIS (SENATE FILE NO. 291 AND STATE FILE NO. 403)
WHEREAS, The City of Fridley has experienced large increases in the
cost of insurance, and
WHEREAS, The cities of Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park,
Coon Rapids, Crystal, Edina, Fridley, Golden Valley, Minnetonka, Richfield
and St. Louis Park have had preliminary discussions of the possibility of
cooperatively self- insuring or jointly purchasing insurance, and '
WHEREAS, It appears that it may be possible for these cities to
realize appreciable savings through cooperative self - insurance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The City Council of the City of
Fridley urgently requests the Legislature to pass either general or special
legislation to authorize these cities to cooperatively self- insure their
risks.
